conduco space:mission

Commander Con is flying. You’re at the controls.

conduco space:mission is an arcade-style space flight game. Commander Con flies ahead on his own; you guide him through three lanes at three different altitudes, dodging asteroids and collecting stardust. You can play on your own, with a friend on a single screen, or in an online duel.

The story

Commander Con, ready for the unknown.

Far out in space, a blue planet orbits, surrounded by a belt of asteroids where stardust glows like nowhere else. Anyone who flies into it rarely gets very far. That is why Mission Control simply calls the area ‘the Field’.

Commander Con is determined to find out anyway. He was never the loudest in his year group, but always the most curious. With flight programme 01, he receives his mission: to fly as deep as possible into the Field, collect stardust and find out how far one can go.

He quickly learns the rules of the Field. Where stardust glitters, there’s a path through. Green rings recharge his shield. And with enough stardust in his tank, his energy beam clears an asteroid out of the way. But the deeper Con flies, the faster he goes and the closer the boulders get.

When things get completely stuck, Mission Control sends out the rescue drone. Its tractor beam brings Con back safely, and at the next take-off he gives a quick wave to the camera, turns round and takes off again. Giving up is out of the question for him: somewhere beyond the field, something is waiting, and he wants to be the first to see it.

The game

Dodge, gather, carry on flying.

Commander Con flies automatically through the asteroid field, picking up speed as he goes. You decide which way he dodges: left or right, up or down. Each input moves him by exactly one lane or one level. This ensures precise control even at high speeds.

There is no time limit. A flight only ends when the shield is depleted and an asteroid hits. Points are awarded for every metre flown and for every bit of stardust collected.

  • Nine flight positions

Three lanes at three different altitudes. The lanes alternate left and right, whilst the altitude changes up and down. A small 3×3 display next to Commander Con shows where he is currently flying.

  • Stardust and a beam of energy

Ten units of stardust charge an energy beam – a maximum of two at a time. It destroys the nearest asteroid in your position, but costs you the stardust and the points it would have earned. A safer route or a higher score: the choice is yours.

  • A shield rather than a life

Commander Con starts with two out of three shield points. Green rings restore one point; each hit costs one. Without a shield, he continues flying; only the next hit brings his flight to an end.

  • A fair increase in difficulty

The speed and asteroid density increase across five levels. Each sequence remains solvable; automated tests verify this using 100,000 generated sequences.

  • Keyboard, mouse or controller

Every change is a quick press of a button, a mouse movement or a tap of the joystick. The sensitivity can be adjusted in the settings.

  • The next flight straight away

Just one press of a button is all it takes for Commander Con to set off on his next flight.

Family-friendly

No violence against characters: only rocks can be broken. When a flight comes to an end, a small recovery drone uses a tractor beam to bring Commander Con back safely.

In flight

Everything you need right at your fingertips on the Commander.

The sign, speed and flight position are right next to the character, exactly where your gaze is focused anyway. You’ll find points, stardust and the energy beam’s charge at the edge of the screen. The stardust shows you a viable path.

Game modes

On your own, in pairs or online.

In a head-to-head race, both fly exactly the same distance. So it’s not down to luck, but to who can manoeuvre better.

Single-player. An endless flight with increasing difficulty, flight analysis and leaderboard.

A local derby. Two players sit side by side at a screen, each with their own camera, display and input device. The round ends when both have been eliminated; the player with the higher score wins.

Online duel. One-on-one against friends or random opponents. Your opponent appears as a ghost on your track. If no one is online at the moment, a practice pilot is available, clearly marked as AI.

After the flight

Every flight in figures.

After each flight, the flight summary shows how you got on: points, distance and flight time, plus the progression of points and speed, your stardust ratio and the tally of hits, shields collected and asteroids destroyed.

If your flight ranks among the top ten on your device, you’ll have your pilot name added to the leaderboard. And then? Another flight.
