Talk entitled ‘…and we’ll just let AI do the rest!’ on Thursday 3 April 2025 at kult Westmünsterland in Vreden

Chat GPT, Midjourney and other generative artificial intelligence (AI) systems are currently hot topics of discussion in society, politics and all areas of life. The Borken district is home to many innovative and forward-looking companies, as well as creative minds in the field of digitalisation, who are working in this area. At the same time, however, an increasing number of people are also benefiting in their private lives from the opportunities offered by this new technology. But what is actually behind the hype, and how can AI be used in a forward-looking way across different sectors? The kult Westmünsterland in the Borken district invites you to explore these questions on Thursday, 3 April 2025, at 7 pm, with a keynote talk followed by a discussion at kult Westmünsterland, Kirchplatz 14 in Vreden. Johannes Terhürne, founder of the Vreden-based digital agency conduco labs and lecturer in media economics and digital innovation at the Rheinische Hochschule Köln, will then give a talk entitled ‘…and we’ll just let AI do the rest’, he will provide an overview of the subject area as well as practical insights into the design, development and application of AI-based processes. “We all already use AI in many areas, often without even realising it. That’s why we’d like to provide an overview of what AI is, what it can do, and what’s important to know about using it,” explains Ute Isferding, a member of staff at kult Westmünsterland. Artificial intelligence has the potential to drive forward the automation of processes. But in which areas of work is its use actually of interest and relevant? What needs to be taken into account, and how will our everyday lives be affected as processes are increasingly optimised by artificial intelligence? These and other aspects will be discussed following the keynote presentation with Johannes Terhürne and Karina Holtkamp from the Borken District Economic Development Agency. The two speakers will also address questions from the audience to shed light on the future opportunities and challenges for private use and for the region.

The event forms part of the programme of accompanying events for the current family exhibition “PLAYMOBIL – Typical Westmünsterland”, which can be seen at kult until 13 April. In the exhibition’s ‘Future’ section, the significance of future technologies in the Borken district is explored through a PLAYMOBIL diorama.

The special exhibition ‘PLAYMOBIL – Typical Westmünsterland’ can be visited during kult’s regular opening hours (Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm). Admission for adults is 4 euros per person. Children and young people up to the age of 17 go free.
