Sawyer: The revolutionary platform for the digitalisation of youth work

Following a successful beta phase, Sawyer – the pioneering platform for the digitalisation of youth work – will officially launch on 1 September. Local authorities across Germany can now benefit from this state-of-the-art technology and take their youth work into a new era.

In this era of widespread digitalisation, more and more areas of life are undergoing transformation. Youth work is no exception. Sawyer, the next-generation version of the renowned “JugendCampus” app from Vreden, is now available nationwide and to all local authorities in Germany.

Named after the protagonist of Mark Twain’s classic *Tom Sawyer*, the platform focuses on two key areas: leisure activities and career guidance. Young people can sign up for and pay for a wide range of activities, such as canoe trips, cookery courses or holiday camps, directly via the app. The platform automates the entire participant management process and has reduced the administrative burden by an average of 42 per cent in pilot local authorities.

At the same time, Sawyer offers companies the opportunity to showcase their apprenticeship programmes, thereby helping young people with their career choices. Experience in medium-sized towns such as Vreden has shown that the platform has led to an increase of over 300 applications per year. Schools also use Sawyer to support career preparation and to help pupils find work experience placements.

This innovative combination of leisure and career guidance creates synergies that benefit everyone involved: the young people themselves, the businesses and the staff at the youth centres.

For the residents of Vreden, everything will remain the same: the app will continue to be available as ‘JugendCampus Vreden’ in all app stores. Future partner local authorities can choose whether they wish to use the platform in white-label mode with their own branding or as a licensed version under the name “Sawyer”.
