conduco labs is digitising youth work in Vreden
Jugendwerk Vreden e.V. is breaking new ground in the digital sphere and has been available via an app since Thursday (2 December). This makes it even easier to access information, register for activities and make online payments. The app was developed by the Vreden-based company conduco labs.
The start-up, which implements digital solutions for large companies such as Unilever and the Fundación Real Madrid Clinics Western Europe as part of its day-to-day business, regularly invests a portion of its profits in so-called ‘mega-trends’. “Every year, we support digitalisation projects in areas where the relevant expertise or capacity is lacking,” explains Johannes Terhürne, founder of conduco labs. Having himself rented a rehearsal room at Jugendwerk Vreden e.V. as a teenager with his band at the time, it was very important to him to support youth work in his home town digitally and holistically. “We wanted to give something back,” he emphasises. This was very well received. “We believe the app captures the spirit of the times because young people are used to interacting digitally,” says Markus Funke, educational director of Jugendwerk Vreden e.V. “That’s why we’re delighted to now be establishing our own secure communication channel with our app.” Following the development phase, this app can now also be licensed by other youth organisations and local authorities.
The range of features includes information about the Jugendwerk and its activities. Direct registration is possible, as is online payment. Holders of the Münsterland Card can also register and pay directly online using the Münsterland Card. But it is not only participants in the youth organisation who can benefit from these simplified digital options. Staff also benefit from the app’s extensive features. “Digital payment options, easy contact, quick response times, notifications of available places … – our experience with digital registration for the ‘Ferienpass’ activities has already been so positive that we’re absolutely delighted to be able to launch this now,” explains Funke. Just in time for 1 December, the new app also features a sustainable Advent calendar with 24 doors and an exciting prize draw.
The app’s development is by no means complete with its launch. “This process will continue even after the launch,” explains Terhürne. “We will continue to develop the features and content on an ongoing basis, adapting them in response to feedback from users.” The first major update in 2022 will include a wide range of features relating to career guidance.
Jörg Lenhard, City Manager and member of the Training Working Group, highlighted the benefits of this future use: “Companies can showcase themselves and the apprenticeships they offer, advertise work placements and apprenticeship roles, and promote vacancies that still need filling.” But that’s not all. “Young people can save their CV once and use it for various job applications.” The app has already been presented to secondary schools and a large proportion of the business community, and has received a very positive response.
Mayor Dr Tom Tenostendarp is delighted with this major step towards the digitalisation of youth work, as it also sends a strong signal about Vreden as a hub for innovation. “The app allows us to reach a lot of people, and that is particularly important to me.” All residents of Vreden, as well as local businesses, are invited to install and use the app.
The app is now available free of charge for all devices running the iOS or Android operating systems.
